Hunter Ed field day for online students offered in Miles City Oct. 9 >

MILES CITY – A free Hunter Education field day for online students will be held in Miles City on Friday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Spotted Eagle Recreation Area. This will be the last field day for online students offered in Miles City prior to the general season, and space is limited.

This event is for students ages 12-17 who have already taken the online Hunter Ed course and must now complete an in-person field day. Adults who have taken online Hunter Ed are also welcome to participate but are not required to complete a field day.

Upon completing the online Hunter Ed course, students must print out the field day qualifier certificate and bring it to the field day.

Field day participants will be required to demonstrate proficiency in safely handling firearms. Inert firearms will be provided, and no live ammunition is allowed. Instructors will closely evaluate students, and students will not be able to hunt until passing a field day.

The field day will be conducted outside. Participants should dress for the weather and for hunting conditions. No open-toed shoes allowed. Bringing water or a drink is recommended.

Hunter, Bowhunter and Trapper Ed courses are posted throughout the year as volunteer instructor availability allows. Check FWP’s website periodically to see if a course is available near you.
