Danait is in her first year at New York University School of Law. She graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2024. As the eldest daughter of Eritrean immigrants who grew up in Metro Atlanta, she believes strongly in the power of community.— Jenner Law
Danait is hoping to take on environmental impact and public interest cases that affect whole communities. Her interest in environmental justice began with a high school internship with The Nature Conservancy. At Vanderbilt, she was on the student government’s environmental committee. After graduation, she joined Girl Plus Environment, an organization that empowers Black and Brown women to champion environmental causes that disproportionately impact communities of color.
Her community focus also showed in her commitment to educating voters in Atlanta ahead of a Public Service Commission election. This experience pushed her to law school by helping her realize that she wants to make a difference through larger, systemic changes in the future.
Jenner Law’s Make a Difference Scholarship seeks to help students make meaningful impacts on their communities and the world around them. The scholarship goes to academically excellent students who have clear visions of how they can create positive change. Danait’s application showed that she embodies all of these qualities and more.
